5 Ways to Encourage Your Baby to Move During Pregnancy

Women go through a lot of changes physically, mentally, and emotionally when it comes to pregnancy. Many will say that the aches and pains and morning sickness are worth it, though, when you get to feel your little one move around and kick. Fetal movements are important both for knowing your baby is healthy and for bonding while they’re in the womb, so if you’d like to encourage those little kicks, here are some tips.

Have a Drink or a Snack

Those who don’t have gestational diabetes can enjoy a sugar-containing beverage like soda. IT will encourage the wee one to move around. If you don’t want too much sugar or your doctor has told you to limit intake, a glass of cold water will do just fine, too!

If you’re not in the mood for a drink, a snack can work too. Whether it’s something sweet or something with complex carbs and protein like nuts, the energy boost from a snack can wake up your sleeping baby.

Exercise and Change Your Position

No, exercise doesn’t have to mean running a marathon or going to the gym. But slight movement can pump up your growing baby and encourage it to move around with you. Get your energy up and the baby’s as well by walking around and or gently stretching.

You also don’t have to do complicated yoga moves. Encouraging your baby to move can be a lot more simple. You can roll over while you’re lying down. If you lay on your left, that will help move your baby off your major vessels. Try rolling from side to side and try different positions to see which is best for you to feel the most movement.

Music May Help

Playing music and singing to your newborn baby is a great way to bond, but it can help you bond with them when they’re still in the womb, too! This trick will only work well in the third trimester, though, as in the early days they can only hear internal noises like your stomach growling or your heartbeat.

Pregnancy is as beautiful as it is difficult. There are many changes, some uncomfortable and others pleasant, and you have to get used to your body as another grows inside of you. Bonding with your baby with fetal movement is a great way to know your baby is doing well in there and waiting to meet you.
